Our Mission

As Texas Tech University’s largest aerospace organization, Raider Aerospace Society (RAS) enables students to gain hands-on work experience on a variety of meaningful aerospace and aeronautics projects. These projects pave the way for students to develop into intelligent, interdisciplinary, and industry-ready engineers, allowing RAS to continually advance the organization’s technical capability and maintain a competitive presence in the collegiate aerospace and aeronautics communities.

Nautics

Space Raiders is the rocketry branch of RAS, and its current primary objective is to build and launch a competition rocket at Spaceport America Cup (now IREC, the International Rocket Engineering Competition), one of the largest collegiate rocketry competitions in the world. Each year, students are directly involved with the design, manufacture, testing, and launch of the competition rocket.

Along with fostering the development of rocketry and special projects within Raider Aerospace Society, Pegasus is aimed towards developing aeronautical engineering knowledge through competing in collegiate level world-wide competitions for Texas Tech University.

Raider Aerospace Society is Texas Tech University’s premier aerospace and aeronautics organization. Founded in 2016 by students from the Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. College of Engineering, it has worked to provide student's an opportunity to explore and gain experience in the fields of aerospace and aviation. From building small sugar rockets to recently launching a 14-ft tall class III vehicle, we have seen rapid growth in our student led programs. Our alumni have found themselves work at some of the top aerospace companies in the nation. Our reach is rapidly and aggressively growing. We hope to bring you onboard for the next journey.
